Despite the efforts of corporate lobbyists pressuring legislators to change their votes, our legislators held true to their words and did not cave to corporate interests. They stood up for the Family Farmers and their county constituents and voted NO on HCS SB187. The CAFO bill has been defeated once and for all! This was truly democracy at work and a united coalition at its best!!!(We had one close call today [May 12, 2005] when they brought it up, but they didn't have the votes to pass it and they withdrew!!) We won. It's time to celebrate!
