Defining attractive2003-03-04 11:29:57mariwinn

We weren't using the term, "attractive," to describe Aaron's physical or intellectual qualities, but as a way of describing someone who arouses a lot of interest, whether it be negative or positive. Aaron proved that he was a good candidate for raising money for this charity.

Aaron's not that attractive2003-03-04 11:19:11susanne

You wrote: What you are saying is that the charity prostituted themselves by choosing Aaron to be part of their "package," but, hey, obviously they wouldn't have selected someone unattractive to bidders." THAT IS YOUR OPINION, but a lot of people don't think Aaron is attractive anymore because of his attitude. He may look good on the outside but he acts like a creep! No thank you, I wouldn't want to waste my money on him.

But I do blame Aaron2003-02-28 22:45:34blank

Aaron was just plain mean and insensitive during the interview. He deliberately tried to accuse Helene of being neurotic (how dare him) instead of recognizing that his behavior probably played a major role in her being insecure. It was really low of him to say that he overlooked a "personality conflict" in her. I'll tell you Mr. Buerge, we the public have a personality conflict with you, and we don't want to see your name as advertisement for any charity organization. Be a spokesman for Playboy magazine if you will, but leave the reputable organizations alone. You have no class.

Sharing in Aaron's fame or notoriety2003-02-28 09:55:23mariwinn

But Aaron is already in the limelight. (Grin) We are sharing in both his fame and his notoriety. Are you condemning our actions? But we want to be a forum for people's ideas...would like to encourage more comments in defense of Aaron or the charity, though, and less repetition. What you are saying is that the charity prostituted themselves by choosing Aaron to be part of their "package," but, hey, obviously they wouldn't have selected someone unattractive to bidders. About a dozen folks were part of the bidding process. Of course, some of them had the charity in mind when they placed their bids.

Stop promoting Buerge2003-02-28 09:36:36Lind24

If someone wants to pay $1,025 to eat dinner with a cad that's their business. Let's not promote Mr. Buerge's selfish interests anymore. Stop putting a jerk in the limelight for a charity organization.

Somebody wanted to have dinner with Aaron2003-02-27 23:57:09mariwinn

and get the rest of the stuff that went with the dinner package. Winning bid on eBay was $1025.00.

NOOOOO!2003-02-25 11:37:30Alexandr

Would you like to bid for a dinner with Aaron Buerge? NOOOOO! He turned out to be a world class jerk, I wouldn't give him the time of day!

Sure fooled me2003-02-25 11:35:24Tammy

On the dinner with Assron Buerge, I don't think the Buerges nor Springfield has enough money to pay ME to have dinner with that jerk!! He sure fooled everyone, and now he needs to pay for his lies.

Disillusioned2003-02-25 11:31:07Former f

I want to say that I was a big Aaron Fan after The Bachelor but feel totally disillusioned by the way he treated Helene and the things he said in the interview. Anyone with eyes could see he was not being forthright in that interview and he said some things that I'm sure were hurtful to Helene. I've lost a lot of respect for Aaron and I'm surprised that anyone would even bid on a dinner with him. Shame on you Aaron!

Why "Dinner WITH Aaron"?2003-02-23 22:47:55kimberly

The auction could have easily been advertised as dinner at Trolley's rather than dinner "with Aaron." Although Aaron may be doing a good work by participating in a charitable event, he is - at the same time - promoting HIMSELF, which I believe he has been doing ever since he "starred" in "The Bachelor." I do not know Aaron personally, so all I know of him is what I've seen and heard through the media, his own mouth, and "The Bachelor" show. Based on this, he appears to be a womanizer with a huge ego. I honestly believed Aaron was the victim when he chose Helene because she acted more like a game show contestant who won a prize rather than a woman who just became engaged to a man she loved. But now that I've learned more about their relationship and Aaron's hopping from one woman to the next, I now believe Helene was the victim. Aaron could be a great guy if he would lose the ego and learn what true love is all about. I hope he can accomplish that some day because he has a lot of potential to be a great catch. First, he needs to grow up.

OLC director defends Aaron2003-02-23 17:19:38mariwinn

We received this response from the director of the Ozarks Literary Council: "...It is a shame for the negative publicity. Aaron does not receive any money or compensation for donating his time or efforts. The two times I have met him he was gracious and caring. He donated dinner with him for our Pizza Bowl and live auction on Jan. 21st. He raised $1000 for us, no strings attached. Then, a lady in the audience that was outbid, asked if he would be auctioned off again. This exchange went on off stage so Aaron could have slipped out without any one knowing. He came back on stage and raised $600 more for the Ozarks Literacy Council. Because we had some out of state inquiries, he agreed to the eBay auction. The second time I saw him was at an Expo in town and he had just gotten back from out of town. His plane was delayed. I could tell he was tired but he stood up for hours while his local fans came by to say hi and get an autographed picture. I think he is a genuinely nice person doing a lot of good for charities when he certainly wouldn't have to. I guess any time you get in the public eye there will be both positive and negative responses. There are always two sides to every story. We, at the Ozarks Literacy Council, are appreciative of his efforts. We give him a rose!

Shallow Aaron2003-02-23 08:45:09fan74

IN RESPONSE TO: "Aaron had no part in how the Ozarks Literary Council decided to publicize the bidding. He simply had offered them 4 free dinners at his restaurant-- just like the manager of the Deerfield Inn of Springfield yadyada-- Now, you people seem to be suggesting that the Council made a mistake in capitalizing upon Aaron's image, which, you say, has changed dramatically since the last show with him and Helene aired. That may be. However, it should be pointed out that Aaron has donated a lot of his time for charitable causes with no ulterior motive than to help each one out. You must admit, whether you like him now or not, that folks, such as yourselves, made him a household word. As such, he is a calling card for charitable functions. The Ozarks Literary Council is a worthy cause. They have had other rather creative ways of fund-raising and should not be admonished for trying this one.--" I BEG TO DIFFER WITH YOU! The word has been out around town about Aaron's sham of an engagement for a long time. What he has put that poor women throught for self promotion was cold hearted. The orginal aution took place in early Jan. do to his popularity at the time the Council sought and received an additional donation. Howver, this donation like the first is to promote advertising for the restaurant (Which I refuse to name as to provide free advertising for the bum). Aaron may do Charity benefits but he is PAID for his appearances. Aaron does not do anything that does not benefit himself. He has been in this for self promotion only. Read all the articles his current hometown paper writes about him it always a ME ME ME piece. It is way past time to put this guy out of the limelight he oh so enjoys and give him the respect he truly deserves. That is DO NOT go to his restaurant, do not seek him out and if you do see him shake your head as you walk by. And to all those young ladies out there stay away from him. He is not a going to get married anytime soon and when he does he will never be faithful to anyone but himself.

Aaron the jerk2003-02-22 22:26:50jan

I don't know why anyone would want to eat dinner with that cold and insensitive man. His behavior on the special was abysmal.

You all need to read this2003-02-22 19:34:35anonym

Whoa...I guess, we need to intervene here. Aaron had no part in how the Ozarks Literary Council decided to publicize the bidding. He simply had offered them 4 free dinners at his restaurant-- just like the manager of the Deerfield Inn of Springfield donated 2 free nights' lodging, and the managers of Bass Pro offered free tickets to their museum. The Council put everything together as a package. Now, you people seem to be suggesting that the Council made a mistake in capitalizing upon Aaron's image, which, you say, has changed dramatically since the last show with him and Helene aired. They have had other rather creative ways of fund-raising and should not be admonished for trying this one.

Aaron is no role model!2003-02-22 18:19:18elena

Using a woman (well the breakup of a relationship with one) to get more bids on ebay (and more publicity for his restaurant) is pretty darn low! I'm surprised the new playboy model/cyber blond isn't part of the auction! You are in immediate need of an intervention by trained professionals, bud.

Not good host2003-02-22 13:37:38cherr

If I were looking to find someone to host a funddraiser, I would find someone with some honesty and integrity and someone truly interested in the cause. All the Buerge jerk is interested in is promoting himself and Trollops (excuse me, I meant to say Trolleys); he's lower than pond scum, and I wouldn't give you 2 cents to have dinner with him.

No association2003-02-22 13:28:47lizz

Having dinner with a self-centered, womanizer with no morals. The Literacy Organization should disassociate themselves from him.

Aaron the jerk2003-02-22 13:21:13carole

Aaron is such a jerk, I think anyone would be a fool to ask him to appear at any of their functions. We don't need to glamorize shallow abuse people, and Aaron is just that!

Charity drop Bachelor!2003-02-22 12:13:14fan2002

I agree with everything written thus far. I stongly urge The Literacy Organization to diassociate themselves from this man. Aron Buerge is a self-centered, womanizer with no absolutely no morals. Not exactly a role model for a well respected organization such as yours.

Charity needs new sponsor2003-02-22 10:10:42toogie

In the name of charity, you are supporting an insensitive, lying person's actions. Shame on you! After professing "complete understanding" of the effect on Helene watching him kiss other women on the show along with all the things reported in the tabloids, he placed himself in a position of making Helene feel even more insecure in Toronto. Instead of understanding what he had done, he claims he didn't "feel loved" by her reaction to his blatant disrespect of her. He blamed the tabloids for "setting him up" in a scenario of "the devil made me do it!" In his last interview on ABC, the only positive thing he could find to say about Helene was that she was intelligent and beautiful, with "beautiful" being repeated numerous times. His time line that he used to support his feelings proved his lying. Obviously he didn't/couldn't appreciate the depth of Helene's intelligence in questioning his sincerity and commitment as they related to his actions. This lady, Helene, is a trained psychologist - hello???? Aaron Buerge with his own words has proven to be a shallow cad. I question any woman who would get involved with this man, after having the ability to see him in action so publicly - an insight that all women and men of good character would welcome the opportunity to witness prior to a potential relationship...I question any charity that would be affiliated with this man. Do yourself and your charity a big favor and find a reputable gentleman as a sponsor.

Aaron, PAY ME2003-02-22 09:45:37Anonymou

Aaron Buerge could not PAY ME enough to spend five minutes with him. He's an insensitive, lying, pompous cad!!!!

I would not bid 5 cents for dinner with Arron2003-02-22 00:51:23ajones

Yech! Arron misled everyone by entering the Bachelor show. He was not looking for a wife at all. Anybody who wants to support the cause, should just donate money to it. Even if a person bids just to have the chance to tell him he's a jerk to his face, it would be like talking ABC to a person who can only speak DEF! Any girl who goes with him will only end up being treated with the same disrespect as Helene did. This guy is eye candy and nothing more!
