While reviewing the many volunteer watershed groups, the one thing that stands out is that there is no definite timeline imposed on attaining the stated goals of such organizations. That is great for those writing and administering the grant programs but does little to actually improve a watershed when government agencies ignore results obtained from said groups and continue to allow more and more intensive animal factory style agribusiness in polluted watersheds. Who donates the most money to reelection campaigns is a question that comes to mind about now. It is no suprise that our senators would advocate to lay off regulatory control or fines. Works for "big ag" so we should all be happy with that, right?
