Missouri rallies against health care bill2012-03-19 10:26:33pwerner

While Kathleen Sebelius, secretary of the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services, demonstrates that even she doesn't realize how bad the new health care reform law is, Americans for Prosperity-Missouri is reminding her that the state's voters and legislators know why they remain opposed. Members of AFP-MO plan to stage a protest during Sebelius' visit to St. Louis Community College this afternoon. (Mar. 19, 2012). The Missouri Senate recently passed a bill, SB 464, that requires statutory authorization or voter approval before the state can implement a "health care exchange." While proponents of the law claim that the exchanges provide more choice and flexibility to the state, the latest developments indicate otherwise. HHS published the final rule on health care exchanges last week, in a document totaling 644 pages (with hundreds more to come). The rule uses the word “must” over 1,000 times and the word “require” more than 320 times. It also tells states what insurance plans will look like and what benefits they must cover; removing power from states. Missourians want real health care freedom and choice, not the bait-and-switch offered by the new law.
