Reporting to the director of programs, this person is responsible for assisting persons with disabilities achieve goals for more independent living, specifically meant for those unnecessarily residing in nursing care facilities. The specialist identifies needs, completes intakes based on those needs, documents services provided, makes community presentations and coordinates the reintegration process for individuals that are good candidates for community living instead of institutional living. In addition, the specialist provides IL Skills training; provides individual and systems advocacy; is a backup for the Missouri Assistive Technology programs; and performs other duties as assigned.
