Liberal progressive group forms in Joplin admin2
Updated: 2006-10-09 10:15:30
A chapter of a left-leaning organization to foster political discussion in an informal, casual atmosphere has been formed in Joplin. Meetings for Drinking Liberally, a national organization with over 160 chapters nationwide, will take place on the second and fourth Thursdays of every month. The first meeting will take place at Pizza by Stout, 21st and Range Line, on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, at 7 p.m.

Drinking Liberlly does not sponsor candidates nor tke positions on subects but rather provides an opportunity to raise a glass, trade jokes, vent frustration and hang out in an environment where it's not taboo to talk politics. Membership is free.

Considering themselves an informal, progressive, social group, Drinking Liberally initially was formed in New York City in May 2003 as a backlash to the conservative sway of the media and public-thinking.

For more information about the group, contact Grant Bricker at (417) 483-5960.
