| Joplin is now one of six additional cities in which its carrier Air Midwest, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Mesa Air Group will be linked with Midwest Airlines' nationwide network of 17 nonstop destinations through service in Kansas City. The other cities are Columbia/Jefferson City and Kirksville in Missouri and Grand Island, McCook and Omaha in Nebraska.
Under a codeshare agreement between the carriers passengers leaving from the six cities will be able to book their entire itinerary on a single ticket and receive Midwest Miles frequent flyer mileage credit. The agreement will take effect with flights scheduled on May 6, 2007.
An original codeshare relationship between Air Midwest and Midwest Airlines began in 2001 and already allows for connecting service in Kansas City from other US Air Express destinations including Little Rock in Arkansas and Dodge City, Garden City, Great Bend, Hays, Manhattan and Salina in Kansas.
Mesa currently operates 200 aircraft with over 1,300 daily system departures to 173 cities, 43 states, Canada, Mexico and the Bahamas. Mesa operates as Delta Connection, US Airways Express and United Express under contractual agreement with Delta Air Lines, US Airways and United Airlines, respectively, and independently as Mesa Airlines and go!. The Company, founded by Larry and Janie Risley in New Mexico in 1982, has approximately 5,000 employees. Mesa is a member of the Regional Airline Association and Regional Aviation Partners.
