Crawford County clerk gets certified admin2
Updated: 2007-04-29 15:42:36
The Kansas County Clerks’ and Election Officials’ Association (KCCEOA) is pleased to announce that R.J. Wilson, the county clerk and county election official for Crawford County in Kansas has successfully completed the Sanborn Certification Institute and is now recognized as a certified county clerk.

To achieve certification, county clerks are required to attend the Sanborn Institute and complete 100 contact hours of continuing education over a three year period. The Sanborn Institute is sponsored by the KCCEOA and conducted by the Hugo Wall School of Urban and Public Affairs at Wichita State University.

The certification program incorporates public service values, management skills and prepares clerks for the dynamic social, political, and economic job environment in which they operate on a daily basis. Workshop topics at the Sanborn Institute include election law and technology, financial management, supervisory skills and public administration principles.

Wilson, a resident of Pittsburg, has served as the Crawford County Clerk since 2001. He completed the three year certification process with 25 other county clerks from across the state of Kansas. The next step in the professional development of a county clerk is for the clerk to attend three more years of continuing education to attain the title of master county clerk. Wilson said he plans to seek that certification in coming years.

“The certification institute has been a worthwhile professional development tool,” Wilson said. “I would be remiss if I didn’t thank the Board of Commissioners for their support in this endeavor and the staff of the county clerk’s Offices for managing the business we conduct during my time at the institute.”
