| The Huffington Post in partnership with Yahoo! and Slate has announced its sponsorship of the first-ever online-only presidential candidate mashup. Moderated by Charlie Rose, the event set for September 12, 2007, will feature all eight Democratic candidates. A Republican mashup will be announced later on.
What is a candidate "mash up?" The Huffington Post defines it as a "new kind of campaign forum that will put you in charge of shaping exactly what kind of viewing experience you want to have--from the questions that are asked to the way you can pick and choose the issues you want to hear about and the candidates you want to hear from."
How it will work is that Rose armed with viewers' questions will have a conversation with each of the candidates. After the candidates have finished talking, a video will be coded and offered for viewing on the Net with the mashups of one's choosing.
For example, one click brings what all the candidates said about Iraq, one click brings a comparison between the remarks of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, or one click compares the issue of health care amongst all the candidates or only specific ones.
