Farmland ravaged by floodwaters alice

It looks like the start of another Grand Canyon but check out the irrigation system in the background that has long since not been a necessary component for this stretch of farmland. Flooding along the Missouri/Iowa border spring into summer 2011 has left deep gullies on much of the land and created a situation where, some say, farming won't be possible for at least 100 years. This photo was taken in Iowa near the Missouri River and I-29 after the floodwaters receded.
