Did this man case one bank but rob another? blewis
Updated: 2009-09-22 19:56:48

A lone white male entered the Commerce Bank, 1311 S. Madison, Webb City on July 10, 2009, brandished a handgun and demanded money from the bank tellers. After retrieving the money and placing it in a plastic bag, the man ordered all employees to the floor and exited the building. The man is believed to have left the building in a white, late 1980s or early 90s 4-door Oldsmobile.

The man was described as being between 5'6" to 5'10" in height, weighing over 200 pounds with an average build, and a protruding belly. Witnesses described the man as being between 45-55 years of age, wearing a dark-colored short-sleeve t-shirt, dark pants, tennis shoes, a straw hat, sunglasses, with a type of dark colored netting over his face. He also wore distinctive black gloves with white stripes.

A day before the robbery, an individual, shown at left, was captured on video at the Mid-Missouri Bank, 7th and Northpark La., Joplin, wearing very similar clothing, including the distinctive black gloves with white stripes, but carrying a white motorcycle helmet.

The assistance of the public is being requested to identify the individual whose image was captured on 07/09/2009 at the Mid-Missouri Bank in Joplin, as a person of interest in the Commerce Bank robbery, which occurred in Webb City the next day.

If you can assist law enforcement authorities to identify this individual, please contact Webb City Police Department, or the FBI office in Joplin (417-626-1459).
