Joplin Police Blotter: Child porn suspect arrested

Detectives with the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crime Task Force executed a search warrant on Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at 1032 S. Connor Ave., Joplin. The search warrant was the result of a one-month undercover investigation conducted by the Joplin Police Department Cyber Crimes Detective Chip Root regarding the possession and distribution of child pornography.

Arrested at the residence was 20-year-old Roger R. Russell, pictured left. Russell is currently being held in the Joplin City Jail pending charges of Promoting Child Pornography and Possession of Child Pornography.

The Joplin cyber crimes detective was assisted in executing the search warrant by cyber crimes detectives with the Jasper County Sheriffs Office, Barry County Sheriffs Office, Cassville Police Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the US Postal Inspection Service.
