Joplin Police Blotter: Man in custody for robbery blewis
Updated: 2012-03-07 13:40:15
The Joplin Police Department received a report of a strong armed robbery that occurred just before midnight on the evening of March 6, 2012. A male employee of Taco Bell, located at 2315 W 7th, was sitting in his personal vehicle on a work break when he was approached by another male.

The suspect demanded money from the victim, threatening to do bodily harm if he did not comply. The victim complied and the suspect left the lot in a white pickup.

After the police were called, a description of the suspect and the vehicle were given. A short while thereafter, officers spotted the vehicle and stopped it in the area of 6th and Sergeant. At that time the suspect, who was alone in the vehicle, fled on foot and was taken into custody not far from the stop.

Frederick L. Bryant, age 43, of Joplin, pictured, was positively identified by the victim, and is currently in the custody of officials at the Joplin City Jail. Probable cause paperwork for second degree robbery has been submitted to the Jasper County prosecutor for the consideration of formal charges being filed.
