The Joplin Police Department received a medical call of a female unconscious and not breathing at 1520 W. 8th St. on March 8, 2012, just before 6 p.m. Upon arrival the body of Bobbie Nichols, 50, of Joplin was found in the office area. Nichols had an apparent gunshot wound, and a handgun was recovered at the scene.

Joplin Police investigators are currently working the scene, and an autopsy is tentatively scheduled tomorrow in Columbia. The investigation is continuing and more information will be released when it becomes available.
