Pro Musica-Joplin to present program of jazz

Pro Musica-Joplin has scheduled a program for lovers of jazz. Frederick Moyer & the Dave Brubeck Tribute Quartet will perform on Saturday, May 3, 2014, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The free event will take place at Corley Auditorium of Webster Hall on the campus of Missouri Southern State University in Joplin.

Announcing individual selections from the stage, Frederick Moyer will trace some of the landmarks in Dave Brubeck's life, explore his improvisational style as a jazz pianist and include some of his serious piano works. Performing with Moyer are Peter Fraenkel, Peter Tllotson and Billy Novick. The selections include: Take Five, Unsquare Dance, It's a Raggy Waltz, Trolley Song, St. Louis Blues, Blue Rondo a la Turk and five nocturnes for piano solo including Blue Lake Tahoe, Looking at a Rainbow, Nostalgia de Mxico, Bluette and Quiet as the Moon.
