| Crowder's Tatum Bell Tower is crowned | c-brown | | Updated: 2008-11-27 10:54:15 | | | | A copper cap recently was placed atop the Tatum Bell Tower on the Crowder College campus in Neosho, MO. Officially dedicated early last August 2008, the tower was named after Jim Tatum, president of the Crowder Board of Trustees who is said to be the longest standing college trustee in the nation, having joined the board in 1963. His contributions and dedication to Crowder are immeasurable. Before retiring, Tatum owned Tatum Motor Company of Anderson, a purveyer of farm equipment and tools.
The 42-foot high tower standing in the center of the campus was part of the expansion that included a new academic building. Two 100-year-old bronze bells, four clock faces and words of wisdom are features of the structure. |
