Crowder to expand its nursing program c-brown
Updated: 2009-07-13 15:03:36
Crowder College will be expanding its nursing program. Proposed during a meeting of the Missouri State Board of Nursing on June 2, 2009 in Jefferson City, the approval for an associate degree to be offered at the Cassville campus is pending a successful site survey scheduled for December 16, 2009.

Already there are 28 applications for the planned 25 admissions per year, said D'Ann Dennis, health programs division chair. The additional offering doubles the number of students to 50.

The college will be hiring a coordinator for the Cassville program, a part-time secretary and a full-time faculty member for the first year with the addition of a second full-time faculty member and clinical instructor the second year.

When asked about the approval Dennis said, “We traveled to Jefferson City to defend our proposal to the Missouri State Board of Nursing for the program in Cassville. We did not have to answer one question. In fact, the board made a motion, seconded the motion, and voted unanimously to accept our proposal."

Commenting on the quick approval was Lori Scheidt, nursing board executive director. She said, “That is what you get when you have a great program."

Crowder College has nursing programs at the Neosho and Nevada campuses.
