Non-traditional nursing student is praised
December 18, 2009
Laura Mills (at center), a non-traditional second year nursing student recently was recognized by the Crowder College Professional Staff Association for her display of excellent leadership skills. An active member of PTK, Student Support Services and the Student Nursing Association, she was very involved in decorations for the Festival of Wreaths, the Farber building dedication and various graduation ceremonies. Her community involvement includes a full-time position at Freeman Neosho Hospital and volunteer work at Medicalodge. She describes herself as a person of many hats--a mother, grandmother, decorator and caregiver. Surrounding her (L-R) are Paula Nichols, assistant director for the College Transition; Dr. Alan Marble, Crowder College president; Greg Jackson, president of the Professional Staff Association and Amy Frieling, director of the Academic Resource Center.
