Crowder student attains 1st black belt

Crowder College student Vitaly Borodin, in the middle, is surrounded by, from L-R, Kevin Mahurin, 2nd Dan Black Belt instructor and Jim Riggs, 7th Dan head instructor. Borodin is the first to attain a 1st Dan Black Belt in Moo Duk Kwan, Tae Kwon Do. After beginning his studies in August 2008, he successfully tested for his Black Belt on December 3, 2011.

Tae Kwon Do is offered by the physical education department at Crowder on their Neosho campus. Students may earn up to four credits by taking PE 144 (introduction to Tae Kwon Do), PE 244 (intermediate Tae Kwon Do) and PE 245 (advanced Tae Kwon Do) that also may be taken multiple times as an adult. Students, who are 16-years-old and have completed their sophomore year of high school make take a class as dual enrollment and earn college credit at a reduced cost.
