At a special board meeting Joplin Schools' Board of Education approved temporary facility locations moves for all schools affected by the May 22, 2011 tornado. The Operation Rising Eagle facilities plan will be effective immediately with the leasing of facilities, remodeling and necessary preparations to begin the 2011-12 school year on August 17, 2011. As this chart shows, High school 9th & 10th graders will attend Memorial Education Center, 310 wW. 8th (corner of Wall) and 11th & 12th graders will be housed at the old Shopko location in the Northpark Mall (end near Macy's Women's store); Franklin Technology students will be at 4th & Grand campus; East Middle School students (6th to 8th graders) will be at the Crosssroads Industrial Park, 32nd St. and CR 190 (Prigmore Ave.); Iriving Elementary (K to 5) will move to the Washington Campus, 1112 E. 2nd St.; Duquesne Elementary School students will attend Duenweg Elementary School, 202 Malloy Circle (off of Irwin St.); Emerson Elementary students will take over the Duquesne Campus, 1301 S. Duquesne Rd. and early childhood and pre-K students will move to the McKinley Campus, 610 S. Forest St.
