Jenna Herr, Lexi Brown and Tara Lanear, sophomores at Joplin High School won first place for their submission of the public service announcement, "Live Above the Influence" in the Show-Me, a movie contest organized by the St. Louis Cooperating School District and Tech4Learning. The contest, open to Missouri students, encourages the creation of movies less than two minutes in length that excel in content, creativity, storyboarding, videography and reflection. The award will be presented at the Midwest Education Technology Conference in St. Charles on February 15, 2011. Under the guidance of Bruce Vonder Haar, JHS TV production teacher, this is the second year in a row Joplin students have won the contest.
