Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt signed into law on June 13, 2007, what Gary Marble, president of Associated Industries of Missouri (AIM) and Ray McCarty, executive director of the Taxpayers Research Institute of Missouri (TRIM), are calling landmark manufacturing legislation aimed at alleviating the tax burden on the state’s manufacturers.
Missouri Senate Bill 30, which will become effective August 28, 2007, contains language that will exempt all utilities, machinery, equipment and chemicals used in manufacturing production, processing or mining from state sales taxes.
“This is the most significant tax development regarding manufacturing that has been enacted in decades,” said Marble. “This exemption should help us compete for good paying, high quality manufacturing jobs with other states and countries,”
The legislation was among the top legislative priorities for both AIM and TRIM, a division of Associated Industries. Go Back |
