Debit card accounts are at risk cniess
Updated: 2009-02-13 16:38:34
The Joplin Police Department is currently investigating a recent rash of fraudulent texts to citizens' cell phones that ask them to call an 800-number for additional information in reference to their debit cards. Once the citizens call the number, they are prompted to provide their personal and account information.

If any citizen receives one of the fraudulent texts, please notify the Investigation Bureau at (417) 623-3131 ext 446. Do not phone the 800-number or release any information unless verifying the authenticity of the request with the debit card issuer.
