Accident on 32nd Street claims young life cniess

The Joplin Police Department is currently investigating a fatal crash that occurred at the intersection of West 32nd and Jefferson Streets in Joplin. The crash happened at just past 11 a.m. today, according to initial an report, when a 2006 Buick Lacrosse was traveling east on 32nd, slowed and made a left turn onto Jefferson. The Buick was struck by a west bound 2000 Suzuki GSX motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle, Christopher Eskandari, 23 years old, of Joplin was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jasper County Coroner.

The driver of the 2006 Buick, Sharon Fisher, 67 years old, was treated and released from the scene.

“It is unfortunate that tragedies like this occur on our roadways. We would like to remind everyone to be vigilant and practice safe driving habits,” said Lt. Darren Gallup.

The Joplin Police Department’s Major Crash Team continues to investigate the crash.
