Police Blotter: Fall seen as cause of death cniess
Updated: 2009-12-29 11:36:36
Keith A Lyons, 43, from Joplin, was reported missing to the Joplin Police Department by his brother just before 10 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009. Information given to the JPD was that Lyons was walking home on Saturday, Dec. 26, at around 10:30 p.m.. Police were told that he normally walked east on 7th to Maiden Lane, south on Maiden Lane to 10th, then east on 10th to his home on Pennsylvania Avenue. Information was that Lyons was on his phone with a friend and stated that he was walking in front of Sonic when the phone was disconnected. Patrol Officers did an extensive search on foot throughout the night but did not locate Lyons.

At 10:52 a.m. on Monday Dec. 28 the Joplin Police Department received another call from the missing person's brother stating that Keith Lyons had been found in a small drainage ditch next to the car wash on west 7th Street and that he appeared to be deceased. Joplin Police arrived on scene and determined that Keith Lyons was deceased. An on-scene investigation was conducted by detectives with the Joplin Police Department and the death has been ruled accidental due to the fall into the drain.
