On September 5, 2008 the Joplin Police Department investigated the death of 2-year-old Kyler Jones. The death was determined to be a homicide and charges were filed in Jasper County against Byron D. Lang for 2nd degree murder. Lang was arrested by Joplin police and posted bond on the charges. Lang failed to appear in court and is believed to have fled to Texas. Recent information obtained by the Joplin Police Department is that Lang has returned to the Joplin area, probably for Christmas. This is the most recent mugshot of Lang.
