Bistro owners arrested on suspicion of arson cniess
Updated: 2010-12-13 21:00:23
The Joplin Police Department along with the Joplin Fire Department responded on December 10, 2010, to 1710 E. 32nd St. because of a report of a natural gas smell in the area of The Bistro located in Suite O.

During an investigation it was determined that the owners of the restaurant along with an acquaintance had conspired to set the business on fire for the insurance money. The Joplin Police Department submitted charges to the Newton County prosecutor's office for the charge of attempted second degree arson. The charge was filed and warrants were issued for Brian D. Ferguson, Hailey J. Ferguson and Michael A. Ortiz. Ortiz is still being sought.

Anyone wishing to make a comment regarding this incident should contact Detective Chad Comer at (417) 623-3131, ext. 478.
