January 31, 2008
WTI Joplin has been recognized as a 2006-2007 School of Distinction by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT). In a certificate awarded recently to WTI Joplin at the ACCSCT Professional Development Conference in San Francisco, the local private career college was recognized for its “commitment to high standards of quality and dedication to career education.”

Linda Lynch, WTI Joplin co-director, credits the school’s staff and faculty. “Promoting our students’ goals is our mission. We are fortunate to have a staff that strives for excellence and teachers who genuinely care about students,” she said. “This recognition is a tribute to their hard work.”

WTI Joplin opened in 2004 and relocated in 2007 to 1715 North Range Line Road. Currently the school serves a student population of 150 and offers training for careers in integrated electronics technology, as a medical assistant, in medical billing & coding, and computer technology and network administration that was launched in 2007. Last year’s relocation to a new, custom-built facility increased the school to 18,000 square feet, with 10 classrooms and laboratories, and two dedicated medical labs.

ACCSCT is a 40-year institution serving as an authority on educational quality and promoting enhanced opportunities for students. The organization’s mission includes establishing, sustaining, and enforcing valid standards and practices which contribute to the development of a highly trained and competitive workforce through quality, career-oriented education. Elise Scanlon, ACCSCT executive director, notified WTI Joplin of the award.
