Washington---House Majority Whip Roy Blunt (MO) today issued the following statement regarding the capture of Saddam Hussein by United States forces in Tikrit:
Saddam Hussein was the Ace of Spades in the deck of infamy. We turned out the ace in the hole today. Saddam's capture sends a clear signal to his remaining loyalists that the United States is in this to win.
President Bush told us we'd hunt the terrorists one by one, and today we got Iraq's biggest one. If there had been any doubt among the Iraqi people that Saddam Hussein's reign of terror is destined to end, today they can rest assured Iraq is changed forever, and he will be brought to justice.
I'm confident that the level of information from Iraqis about the remaining bad guys will increase dramatically beginning today.
