|With Joplin relief and rebuilding efforts entering the third month, Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri is set to welcome relief workers from the Catholic Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph. On Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, more than 35 metro-Kansas City area volunteers led by Bishop Robert Finn will join forces with the Matthew 25 team, from St. Peter the Apostle and St. Mary Parishes, for a day dedicated to lending a hand to neighbors in need.
The team is tasked with sorting materials, helping rebuilding a home, sanding and painting. Donated lumber will be used to build handicapped ramps. Should you need assistance with a project, please contact the Joplin office of Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri at (417) 624-3790. Our new office is located at 826 S. Main in Joplin
At 5 p.m., the group will stop to pray at St. Peter the Apostle Parish, with Fr. Justin Monaghan, of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. A dinner follows Mass.
