Catholic Charities offers building assistance
August 25, 2011
With Joplin relief and rebuilding efforts entering the third month, Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri is set to welcome relief workers from the Catholic Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph. On Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, more than 35 metro-Kansas City area volunteers led by Bishop Robert Finn will join forces with the Matthew 25 team, from St. Peter the Apostle and St. Mary Parishes, for a day dedicated to lending a hand to neighbors in need.

The team is tasked with sorting materials, helping rebuilding a home, sanding and painting. Donated lumber will be used to build handicapped ramps. Should you need assistance with a project, please contact the Joplin office of Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri at (417) 624-3790. Our new office is located at 826 S. Main in Joplin

At 5 p.m., the group will stop to pray at St. Peter the Apostle Parish, with Fr. Justin Monaghan, of St. Marys Catholic Church. A dinner follows Mass.

Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri seeks to improve the lives of the vulnerable by providing quality, compassionate social services which meet local needs. The organization offers support and hope for people of all faith denominations. This newly formed office of Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri has helped over 2000 families with assistance since the tornado on May 22, 2011.
