Updated: 2009-01-30 14:38:45
The Neosho Police Department was dispatched to the Goodman State Bank located on the corner of College and Spring streets at approximately 12:45 p.m. today to investigate a reported bank robbery.

According to witnesses, a white male, estimated to be in his late twenties, entered the bank and produced a note demanding money. The suspect is described as 6' to 6'2", between 175-190 lbs. with light blond hair. He was wearing a gray stocking cap, brown jacket, and blue jeans.

No weapon was observed during the incident. The bank was occupied by two employees; neither was harmed. It is not known whether the robber got away with any money.

The public's assistance is being sought in order to identify the suspect responsible. Anyone with information leading to the whereabouts or identity of the suspect is urged to contact the police department at (417) 451-4242.

UPDATE: The Joplin Police arrested the suspect at the bus station in downtown Joplin after information conveyed to the Neosho Police led to this location. The suspect, who was later identified as David James Owenby, 28, of Barry County, was transported to the Newton County jail and charged with robbery.
