| On March 17, 2012 at 8:13 p.m. the Joplin Police Department responded to Interstate 44 at mile marker 10.4 in reference to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash.
A westbound vehicle traveling in the outside lane struck two pedestrians that were attempting to cross the interstate walking north. One of the pedestrians was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The second pedestrian was transported by EMS to a local hospital, where she was being treated for injuries.
The deceased pedestrian was identified as Kenard Rickey, 32, of Joplin, MO. The second pedestrian was identified as Allison Haskins, 39, of Carthage.
This crash is under investigation by the Joplin Police Department Traffic Unit.
