E coli outbreak hits northeastern Oklahoma debw
Updated: 2008-09-13 09:17:26
For the past two weeks, the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) has been investigating an outbreak of E. coli 0111 in northeastern Oklahoma.

This outbreak has resulted in persons becoming ill with diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, vomiting, severe stomach cramps, and nausea. One person has died from this outbreak and about 200 have become sick.

OSDH and local public health officials have interviewed employees and other affected individuals on foods eaten and other potential activities related to the outbreak. As this investigation continues, the OSDH offers the usual reminders for restaurant and other food service managers to minimize the potential for food-borne outbreaks.
