Spring 2010 programs at Greenbush are announced denise

The Mediaglobe Digital Planetarium and Observatory is located in Girard, KS.

The Southeast Kansas Education Service Center now is accepting a limited number of families with children in grades K-5 for the 2010 spring programs of the Family Astronomy Club at Greenbush's Abernathy Science Education Center. Programs are free.

The 2010 schedule includes:

  • January 23 at 6 p.m. - The reasons behind the changing seasons; weather permitting, families will view the sun through a solar telescope.

  • February 6 at 6 p.m. - Constellations and their stories; make a star finder and practice using it in the Mediaglobe Digital Planetarium and Observatory; view the night sky, weather permitting.

  • March 6 at 4 p.m. - Learn about life aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavor scheduled to lift off to the International Space Station in March; watch the movie Astronaut and taste test food.

  • April 24 at 7 p.m. - Learn about the phases of the moon simulating them with lunar globes and participating in a lunar Olympics.; viewing also will be available through the PSU-Greenbush Astrophysical Observatory, weather permitting.
