City of Neosho announces railroad improvements dfinnie

Neosho City Manager Harlan Moore announced today (June 28, 2010) that the railroad crossing safety improvements and closures will be proceeding in the coming weeks and affecting traffic flow by July 19. Kansas City Southern Railroad crews are expected to begin site work adjacent to crossings this week in a major renovation project expected to last until late September.

At this time the crossings scheduled for work are:

  • East McKinney/Highway 86 from July 19 to August 2: temporary closure for signal and gate installation, road surface work, median curbs, drainage improvements, and a new pedestrian crossing

  • East Spring Street from August 2-16: temporary closure for signal and gate installation, road surface work, median curbs, drainage improvements, and a new pedestrian crossing.

  • Park Street on August 18: permanent closure

  • East Coler and Morrow streets on August 23: permanent closure

  • Smith Ave. and North College/Business 60 from August 23 to September 3: temporary traffic delays or detours during installation of new signals and gates and median curbs; Smith Avenue at North College permanently will be closed

  • Washington Street at RV park from September 6-20: daytime closure for signal and gate installation, road surface work, median curbs and drainage improvements

  • Daugherty Road on September 20: permanent closure
