Helmets still mandatory for motorcyclists dhaskins
Updated: 2014-05-31 15:55:39
The Joplin Police Department wants to make sure that the public is aware that the state of Missouri requires motorcycle operators to wear their helmets when operating a motorcycle.

House Bill 1655 which would have made it an option to wear a helmet if you were 21 years of age or older, did not pass into law.

Corporal Dan Haskins of the Joplin Police Department stated, “We have received several phone calls over the past few days regarding this bill, and I feel that it’s important for everyone to know that a DOT approved helmet is required to be worn in the state of Missouri when operating a motorcycle.” The failure of this bill was confirmed through State Representative Bill White’s office.
