Joplin Police Blotter: Murder at Juke Box dlauritz

FURTHER UPDATE:

Andre L. Brown (AKA Damon Williams) was arrested in Kansas City, Missouri on 08-20-2012. Late Monday evening detectives with the Joplin Police Department and the Tri State Major Case squad received information that Andre L. Brown had fled there. Kansas City Police Department was notified and responded with their Tactical Response Team to 11414 Greenwood Rd., Kansas City, MO, where he was taken into custody without incident around 11:15 p.m. Investigators are still looking into how Andre Brown got to Kansas City.

Lt. Gallup said, “I am grateful to the group effort on this case. Detectives with the Tri-State Major Case squad and Officers with the Kansas City Police Department made this investigation a success.”

Joplin Detectives continue to follow up on leads. “We still encourage anyone with information related to this investigation to call Crime Stoppers (417) 782-TIPZ (8479).

UPDATE: Homicide suspect identified--Investigators have identified a suspect in this shooting. A warrant for 1st degree murder and armed criminal action has been issued for 21-year-old Andre L. Brown, AKA Andre Palmer, AKA Damon A. Williams. Brown, pictured, is currently not in custody and being sought.

Early on in the investigation police were looking at the possibility of two suspects, but as the investigation has progressed, only one suspect has been charged.

The Tri-State Major Case Squad was activated to assist with the investigation. Officers with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department, Newton County Sheriff’s Department, Webb City PD, Carterville PD and Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department have all assisted in the response and investigation.

The Joplin Police Department was called to 3405 S. Range Line Rd., Joplin, Juke Box Saturday Night, in reference to a shooting. Officers found the 26-year-old victim, Charles A Tumbleson. The victim was transported to Freeman Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead due to a gunshot wound.

Joplin Police Detectives continue to follow up leads in an attempt to identify a suspect. At this time there is no one in custody. The suspect is described as a black male, height approximately 510, weight 180.

We encourage anyone who may have information about the shooting to call(417) 623-3131, Ext. 442. Officers with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department, Newton County Sheriff’s Department, Webb City PD and Carterville PD have all assisted in the response and investigation.
