Jasper County Drug Task Force receives HIDTA award
December 14, 2013
The Jasper County Drug Task Force was recognized recently by the executive board of the Midwest High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA), a program incorporating nine regions created by Congress with the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1988 to provide assistance to Federal, state, local and tribal law enforcement agencies operating in areas determined to be critical drug trafficking regions.

As a recipient of their Outstanding Cooperative Effort Award for 2013, the task force bears the same recognition as much larger task forces such as the Kansas City DEA, Omaha DEA and Cedar Rapids DEA, explained Sergeant Chad Allison.

The group is made up of investigators from the sheriff's department in Jasper County and police departments in Joplin, Webb City, Carthage and Carl Junction and agents with the DEA and ATF.
