A group of national, regional and local construction and real estate professionals has organized Project Safe Home - Joplin, to assist homeowners and businesses who lost homes and buildings in the May 22 tornado with a "Safe & Green" rebuild of Joplin. Project Safe Home - Joplin will provide information, technical assistance, and discounts for products and services to Joplin-area families and businesses that lost a structure and want to rebuild using construction technologies that are disaster resistant and energy efficient. There is no charge for their help.

The primary goal of Project Safe Home - Joplin is to inform the public of the importance and practicality of building disaster resistant, energy efficient structures. Several project participants provide products and services that support Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) construction and wind-resistant roof components. Local participants in the consortium include Alpha Title LLC, TAMKO, Joplin Truss, Associated Redi-Mix and Brundage-Bone Concrete Pumping Company and Weichert Realtors. Other participants in Project Safe Home include ACH Foam Technologies, CertainTeed Corp., Global Green Building LLC, Greenline Insulated Forms, Simpson Strong Tie, TF Forming Systems and Weldon Bowman/W Designs LLC.

"We will provide an umbrella for businesses that would like to contribute discounted materials and services to those persons affected by natural disasters," spokesperson Don Rudolph said.

George Van Hoesen, with Global Green Building LLC, said that Project Safe Home - Joplin also will organize customized information sessions for groups and organizations.
