| Paul Davis is coming back to Grove and he wants to see all his former players and students.
The former Grove football coach, who is a member of the Oklahoma Coaches Association Hall of Fame, will be honored at noon at a reception on Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, at the Grove Middle School library. Following the reception, the Class of 1960 at 1 p.m. will host an All Class Reunion in the Grove Middle School cafeteria and auditorium.
Coach Davis came to Grove in 1952, shortly after graduating from Northeastern State University. He just didn't coach the football team, which he did single handedly bringing them to the state finals in 1958, but he also taught classes. He also coached basketball, baseball and track.
Davis left coaching to work in the construction industry, but later returned to the sidelines at Bixby High School, where he won a pair of football conference titles and three track conference titles. Before he retired in 1991 he was a coach and middle school principal in Collinsville.
Davis, who currently lives in Springdale, AR, has two children. Son Butch has had an impressive year coaching, first as assistant at Oklahoma State University then as head coach at the University of Miami. He was assistant coach for the Dallas Cowboys, then head coach of the Cleveland Browns. Currently, he coaches football at the University of North Carolina. Davis' daughter Pam Davis Parkerson is a councilor in Siloam Springs, AR.
