PSU grad opens bookstore in Meadowbrook Mall
November 13, 2013
A new, versatile bookstore with a tasty coffee shop and an African arts and crafts section has just opened in the main building of Pittsburgs Meadowbrook Mall, 202 E. Centennial.

Spellbound, located across from the JC Penney store, is owned by recent Pittsburg State University graduate and author, Brett F. Thomas. The cozy shop, open for just a few weeks, currently showcases a wide variety of tastes, needs and prices although Thomas is still in the process of adding a mixture of both new and used books, including fiction as well as titles in education and biography. He also is in the process of scheduling book signings.

Unique objects are on sale, including those in the African Arts section. A portion of the proceeds from the African department go to aid homeless persons, women in need and others from each item's country of origin.

The rear portion of Spellbound is impossible not to notice and lives up to the store's name. The senses lead instantly to a caf area, where Thomas is gaining kudos for his variety of coffees served in an intimate, relaxed settingfor sitting, drinking and reading a newly purchased book, of course.

Thomas, who began his academic career in music, got his degree in business. The versatile entrepreneur is just completing writing a book, title TBA, whose genre he describes as fantasy fiction.

Current hours are Mondays to Saturdays 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays, 12:30-7 p.m. For more information phone (620) 308-6599.
