MFH seeks volunteers for its board of directors johnson-
Updated: 2010-07-15 08:13:43
ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Foundation for Health (MFH) is continuing to accept applications from individuals to be considered for nomination to its board of directors. Five board positions are available each year. Directors govern MFH’s efforts to provide funding to nonprofits that improve the health of the state’s uninsured, underinsured and underserved residents. MFH is one of the largest health care conversion foundations in the nation. Its 15-member board distributes $40 million to $50 million in grants and awards annually. MFH’s service region covers 84 Missouri counties and the city of St. Louis.

Board members serve without pay for three-year terms, and must live in the MFH service region (see map here which includes Southwest Missouri counties). MFH is committed to a board that represents Missouri’s racial, ethnic, cultural, geographic, and gender diversity. Applications are reviewed by MFH’s Community Advisory Committee, which then presents 15 to 25 candidates, from which the Board selects five to fill available positions.

Applications must be postmarked by August 13, 2010. To receive a Board application packet and review eligibility guidelines, go here, phone (314) 345-5500 or toll-free at (800) 655-5560, or send a letter requesting information to: Community Advisory Council, Missouri Foundation for Health, 1000 St. Louis Union Station, Suite 400, St. Louis, MO 63103.

Established in 2000, MFH is the largest nongovernmental funder of community health activities in Missouri. MFH is in its eighth year of grantmaking, having issued more than $374 million in grants and awards to date. It is dedicated to improving the health of unserved and underserved residents in 84 Missouri counties and the city of St. Louis.
