Who is Gordon Elliott, pictured on the left? Those in Pittsburg, KS will be hearing more about him and his firm Elliott Lodging Group after word of his acquisition of the Holiday Inn property on 4020 Parkview Dr gets around.
“Our acquisition of this property in Pittsburg forms a natural extension to our operations in neighboring Southwest Missouri and is our first venture outside our home state," Elliott said. "We found that this hotel fit well into our plans for buying hotels that have a solid reputation within their respective communities. We believe that this latest acquisition has been the best hotel property in Pittsburg and presents an excellent opportunity to update and remodel to meet today’s demanding standards.”
Remodeling plans include an emphasis on updating the 1980’s look to a more contemporary style. With 5,000 feet of meeting space, consideration is being given to providing foodservice at the property, as was the case some years ago under the Holiday Inn program. The hotel currently allows groups to cater in their food service requirements.
Elliott said,” We understand needs to have a full service hotel and we believe that the Elliot Lodging Group is eminently suited to catering to that need. The hotel property recently became “The Parkview Inn” because of the requirement for all Holiday Inn hotels to have indoor corridors. While many of the rooms have outdoor access, this a situation that is widely accepted in the lower Midwest and one that is not a deterrent to guests where drive-up access is preferred."
Well-known in Springfield, Elliott has served on the board of City Utilities of Springfield since 1980 and was appointed in 2007 to the Board of Governors of Missouri State University, his alma mater. He is the senior partner of CPA firm Elliott, Robinson & Co.in addition to his role as president and CEO of Elliott Lodging and is a major political contributor.
Intercontinental Hotels is the parent franchiser that owns the rights to the names Candlewood Suites, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express. Elliott is a local franchisee. For the Pittsburg property Elliott said that his firm is investigating three or four brand names to see which would best suit the Pittsburg area.
In early 2006 the Elliott Lodging Group opened the Candlewood Suites for extended stay visitors behind the Baymont Inn on South Range Line Rd. in Joplin. They currently own fourteen hotels that are marketed under the Best Western, Candlewood Suites, Baymont, Eagle’s Lodge and Lamplighter Inn brand names. Go Back |
