| A ground-breaking ceremony recently was held on Birch Street in Hollister for Wilderness in the Ozarks, what developers claim will be Missouri's largest indoor/outdoor waterpark resort community. The Gage Family, known for the development of Branson Landing (see explanation in forum), will oversee the development process of this estimated $250 million project; sales will be handled by Innovative Marketing Services and Wilderness Resorts based in Wisconsin will take care of operations and management.
Located just off of the newly constructed Hollister Loop, the resort will include four acres of outdoor pools and a 75,000 square foot indoor waterpark featuring Surf Rider and Tornado, a wave pool, lazy river, four large family tube rides and a variety of other play areas for all ages. Wilderness Resort employs a special "foil-tec" roof to make guests feel like they're outdoors year-round.
Also planned are 110 fully-furnished one-, two- and three-bedroom condominium residences overlooking the outdoor pools to be purchased outright or offered in a shared ownership plan. Wilderness Resorts currently manages Wilderness Territory in Wisconsin Dells, WI, a 900 acre resort complex, and is planning on opening a resort in Sevierville, TN in addition to the one on the drawing board for Hollister.
