New AT&T hiring is announced

Joplin - The Joplin Regional Prosperity Initiative, an arm of the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce, announced today that the AT&T Mobility Center in Joplin will be hiring 95 new people.

The customer service company will offer candidates a starting pay range of $9.82 to $11.33 per hour based on skills and experience and a full benefit plan including 10-week paid training, health insurance, a matching 401K program, tuition reimbursement, regular pay increases and career advancement opportunities.

"Customer service is critical to our success in today's extremely competitive communications business," said John Karry, director of small business end user care at the center. "Our business specialists are a vital part of our organization. We're looking for hard-working, ambitious people who can talk with customers, assist them with their questions and issues and make a positive, lasting impression. We strive to fully resolve customer issues on their first call to AT&T."

One of the key goals of the Joplin Regional Prosperity Initiative is to provide quality jobs that pay a good wage and offer strong benefits. That goal is based on assisting local firms to expand and attract new companies to the area. "AT&T is an example of a successful attraction effort that opened their doors three years ago with hundreds of new jobs for our region. Now, as an existing company, AT&T is in the position to add more quality jobs for the area as the economy rebounds." said Rob O'Brian, Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce executive director.

AT&T Mobility Business Customer Care Center located in the Joplin Area in 2007. The 19.3 million dollar facility has an estimated economic impact of more than $25 million annually. The center has a payroll of approximately $13 million with jobs that include customer service, information technology, human resources, and management.
