Crowder seeks new head; Marble has interim role

The Crowder College, Board of Trustees is pleased to select Alan Marble of Neosho, Crowder's dean of business and support services, to serve in the role of interim president.

"I'm honored to be of service in this capacity during this transitional period at Crowder," said Marble. "Crowder is a wonderful institution with a great history built on a genuine culture of service and dedication to student success. I'm proud to be a part of the Crowder family."

Marble holds a Master's degree from Pittsburg State University and is an ABD doctoral candidate at the University of Nebraska. He has servedin a variety of roles at Crowder since his employment began in 1986, including Director of Continuing Education, Dean of Development, andliaison to the Crowder College Foundation, Inc.

Board members are also working toward the organization of a screening committee for the selection of a new president. The committee, through a consensual process, will recommend to the Board for consideration a list of desired skills and other qualifications for the position ofpresident. The committee through a screening process also will recommend a list of semi-final candidates for consideration by the Board. Finalists will be invited to campus for a series of public forums. During the forums, candidates will be open to questions from audience members.

Crowder's president search is for an individual "deeply passionate about the college mission/vision: 'To create a civil, serving, literate, learning community of responsible citizens.'

Dr. Steven Gates, Crowder's president since August 2004, announced his resignation in March of the 2005-06 academic year to be effective May 31.
