The City of Joplin is pleased to announce that Steve Cope has joined the City staff as the building and code enforcement supervisor. He will assume responsibilities on December 12, 2005.

Cope has many residential building certifications as well as hands-on experience in construction. Prior to the new appointment, he worked for the City of Grandview where he was a building inspector for over three years. He has served as a self-employed contractor, and while he was a project superintendent at Amcon, LLC for three years, he also worked for the City of Fontana, KS as their codes and building inspector.

“The City looks forward to having Steve join our team,” said David Hertzberg, public works director. “He has quite a bit of experience in the building and construction field that will be beneficial to lead the building and code enforcement division in their work. Steve will be an asset to our department as well as to the City and our citizens.”

Cope residential certifications include building inspector, electrical inspector, combination inspector, plumbing inspector and mechanical inspector.
