| Have you ever watched youngsters participate in the Punt, Pass and Kick competitions during the halftime of National Football League (NFL) games and wondered how to get your kids involved in this event?
The Joplin Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a 2009 NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass and Kick Competition on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009. Check-in is at 5:15 p.m. The competition begins at 6:15 p.m. and will be held at the Joplin Athletic Complex, 3310 W. First St. No cleats are allowed when competing.
The event is open to boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 15. The top scorer in all age divisions will advance to sectionals. Winners from that contest advance to the team championships that are held at an NFL football game.
Boys and girls compete separately in four age categories: 8 and 9 year olds, 10 and 11 year olds, 12 and 13 year olds and 14 and 15 year olds. The age deadline is December 31, 2009. A valid birth certificate MUST be presented when registering.
