PATRICK MURPHY
A highlight of the evening will take place in the Murphysburg Residential Historic District when The Dream Theater Company will present an interactive living history of the life and personality of Joplin founding father Patrick Murphy from his emigration from Ireland to his Joplin mayoral election. The free event will take place next to the Olivia Hotel on Moffet Avenue. Also in the area of the First United Methodist Church at 501 W. 4th St. the Missouri Highway Patrol and Missouri Dept. of Transportation will demonstrate their Seat Belt Convincer, Fatal Vision Goggles and Distract-A-Match Games.
Spiva Center for the Arts at 3rd and Wall will present "Green Fashionistas," a free show featuring fashions created from recycled, restyled or reused clothing and other found objects while in the main gallery PhotoSpiva 2011 will showcase the work of national photographers, in the regional gallery photographer Julie Blackmon will present her "Domestic Vacations" and in the upstairs gallery PhotoSpiva Kids will be displayed.

In Spiva Park (4th & Main) The Websters will perform. Deems Photography will provide a photo booth for capturing your St. Patty's Day costume. At 5th & Main the Joplin Humane Society will have animals available for adoption.

Main) who will be celebrating their second anniversary from 5-8:30 p.m. with music by Jason Kinney, Irish food and beer tasting and wine by the glass specials for $15 per person paid at the door; Salon 529 and Day Spa (529 S. Calling all film makers
Film makers are asked to mark their calendars to participate in the 48-Hour Film Competition that will take place on Thursday, May 5 when they will be given specific criteria to meet and using them be challenged to create a film within a 48-hour period of time.
