Joplin CVB announces criteria for 2012 grants

The Joplin Convention & Visitors Bureau is now accepting applications for the 2012 JCVB Special Event Grant. These funds are to assist qualified organizations with the promotion of tourism activities striving to directly increase hotel/motel occupancy and create positive image building publicity for Joplin. The program, awarding $100,000 annually, primarily focuses on marketing and promotion outside of a 50-mile radius of Joplin in an effort to attract overnight guests. All funding is on a reimbursement basis only with a maximum of $20,000 awarded per applicant.
Events sponsored by both not for profit and for profit organizations must be held between November 1, 2011 and October 31, 2012. Open to the general public, they must be held within 20 miles of the Joplin city limits.
